Wimbledon & 4th of July Weekend!

Me and Momma's favorite sport is tennis and this week the biggest of the big got underway at Wimbledon's All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. WOO-HOO! As you can see our favorite player is Andre Agassi and we are very sad that he has decided to retire after the upcoming U.S. Open. I take my responsibilities as Andre's ball girl very seriously. He tells me the more drool I get on the ball the better, because it makes his double-handed backhand almost impossible to return. (Hey, I didn't say it was legal, but what the Queen doesn't know won't hurt her.)

Anywho, I can't believe it's 4th of July weekend already. Where is the summer going? I have yet to catch the elusive chipmunk or any of his family members. Momma says it's because I'm going to be 9 years old on July 16 and that I just don't have as much zip as I used to. I told her to mind her own business. When I catch my first chipmunk of the summer I'm gonna hide it in the "Big Bed" under the covers! That'll teach her to tell me I don't have any zip left, humph!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th and gets to eat lots of good food while spending time with friends and family!

First Official Day of Summer

My summer is off to a great start! Except for those darn chipmunks who sit high up on the fence laughing at me, because I can't reach them. Wait a minute, who is calling who short here? I would spend all day out in the backyard hunting if Momma would let me. Sometimes she makes me so MAD! She actually has the nerve to come out and pick me up and carry me inside, just because it's hot and I'm panting. O.K., so I'm a little stubborn...Hello, I'm a DACHSHUND! I've made some more new friends at another great doxie place called the Doxielovers Club. As far as I'm concerned, you can never have too many friends, right?!

Momma was a little miffed at me yesterday, because I was sniffing around the house like a crazy woman. I ran from room to room sniffing and snorking. She thought I had for sure gone off the deep end. Well, whether she wants to believe me or not there was a mouse in the house! All my sniffing and running around must have scared him, because he's not in the house anymore. So there Momma!
I smell Momma making spaghetti for supper (one of my favorites) so I better go help trip her up (I didn't say that, did I?) I need to keep my strength up so I can stay one step ahead of the chipmunk menace.

Roo and the "Big Blue Chair"

This is the "Big Blue Chair" and I spend most of my time here because, it has a great view to the world outside. I do a lot of barking sitting here as I protect us from ALL passerbyers. Momma says I am the bestest dachsie alarm ever. There's that Bulldog car security system and I think there should be a Dachshund home security system. Every home in America should have at least one! As you can see I really, really love my "Big Blue Chair." This is where I usually hide my treats and chewies. Sometimes I can't quite make it up by myself so I give Momma my pitiful help-me look and she gives me a boost. To be honest, I give her the look even when I can make it. I can't help it, I love getting a boost from my momma!
Anyways, that's my "Big Blue Chair" story. We all need a place to call our own where we can think and dream and just relax and be ourselves.

Summer Fun & FOOD!

Boy, do I LOVE summertime! It seems like the barbecue gets fired up every night. So far this weekend we've had BBQ'd ribs and weenies (no, I did not commit cannibalism) and today we're having grilled salmon. Nummy, nummy, num, nums! I sit in the "Big Blue Chair" (more about the "Big Blue Chair" another day) and watch and listen for the chipmunk then I leap down and run to the back door where Momma lets me out. The yard is small and fenced in and sometimes it looks like the "Dachsie/Chipmunk 500" is underway minus the pitstops. I hope everyone enjoys their Sundays as much as I do, but then everyday is fun when you're a dachsie!

Chipmunk Hunter Extraordinaire

I got up this morning and went outside to do my little jobs and then got busy hunting the ever elusive chipmunk who comes to my backyard to eat out of the bird feeders, but he made a clean get away under the gate. I'm starting to think that the fence needs to go! Momma says the fence is there to keep me safe from all the big cars on the streets. I guess I'll just have to wait for chippy to come back. I'm pretty good at waiting if that's what I need to do to have a yummy chipmunk hors D'oeuvre. My hubby Rusty and I are planning a big Gumbo Festival in the fall on The Hotdog Blog! All our friends are out hunting whatever runs wild in their backyards. Our friend Boo who lives in Australia has already sent a wallabye and Rusty is storing it in his freezer along with other goodies like: lizards, frogs, fish, elk, squirrels and mice. We're gonna need one HUGE gumbo pot! I very highly recommend that any dachsies or their humans check out The Hotdog Blog!to see all the fun we have! We have a big soccer match coming up in a couple of weeks and there's gonna be lots of ice cream eating on the side lines so I'm not really sure how much game playing there will be, but I do know it's gonna be FUN! I'm gonna go take a nap now, before I go back outside and continue the hunt.
